The Great Martyr's Blade is the weapon most players sleep on — and the one that transforms hardest with the right infusion. Without Frost it is one of the slowest weapons in Mortal Shell II. With it, the greatsword freezes enemies solid before they can answer, and it jumps straight into the top tier.

Where to find the Great Martyr's Blade
If you already pushed north to the King's Crypt for the Veteran's Battle Axe, this route is short:
- Head west through Gloomshade Grove.
- Drop down to the lower ground and find the tucked-away odd stone — strike it and the Blood-Cursed Lithopod boss emerges.
- Kill the lithopod to receive the key to the citadel-style area.
- Fight your way to the Martyr's Prison and clear it — the blade is the reward.

The Frost infusion is the whole build
The blade can also take Lightning, but Frost is exclusive to this weapon and it is what makes the moveset viable: frozen enemies cannot punish the greatsword's slow recovery frames. The Frost gate sits at the far southeast of the world map — firmly second-half content, though a risky early pilgrimage is technically possible. Until then, pair the blade with the Warden's Stone so its freeze effect starts negating the weapon's speed problem early.

Best Tarstones
Skip the slow combo finishers; the light-attack finisher is genuinely nice here, and the heavy-attack finisher grants an extra 30% crit chance on the enhanced heavy — exactly what the build wants.
Moveset overview
- Light attacks — thrust, big swing, thrust. Functional, not flashy.
- Heavy attacks — a heavy swing into the enhanced heavy finisher.
- Running light — a big golf swing with surprising reach.
- Running heavy — a spin-to-win into a thrust; the best gap-closer in the kit.
Special ability
The Captive's Scabstone is a fantastic all-around pick: a 300% strike with massive stagger damage whose Resolve cost drops to 75. It is one of the coolest-looking finishers in the game and halves an early boss's health bar on hit.
Verdict
A commitment weapon with a huge payoff. Slog to the Frost gate, stack crit chance, and turn the slowest sword in the game into a freeze-lock executioner.
