The Axatana is the best of both worlds: a transforming weapon that fights as a fast dagger one-two machine and swaps into a sweeping axe for area damage. It is one of only two dual-wield weapons that can equip the Duality Stone, and one of only two that can inflict Stasis — a combination that borders on unfair.

Where to find the Axatana

The Axatana sits in the south of the map, and there is no dungeon gating it:

  1. Reach the small tower on the island — there is a button on its front to press, or use the nearby teleporter gates to hop over to the island.
  2. An enemy wielding an Axatana guards the spot.
  3. Beat her and pick the weapon up right beside her.

No boss lock, no puzzle — the only cost is the walk south.

Moveset overview

  • Light attacks — enhanced one-two chains, very, very fast.
  • Heavy attacks — the axe comes out: slower, sweeping swings for when you need AoE.
  • Running light — a strong multi-hit on approach.
  • Running heavy — a heavy one-two that takes real chunks off health bars.

Best Tarstones: Duality Stone again

Nothing else comes close. The Duality Stone doubles every hit of the dagger string, and on the fastest-attacking weapon in the game that compounding is ridiculous. This is the same best-in-slot pairing as the Axe and Dagger — the only other weapon that can use it.

Infusions: Voltaic, with a Stasis asterisk

The Axatana can run Voltaic, an excellent default that is welcome on any build. Strangely, despite being the fastest weapon in the game, it also has Stasis access — stacking five build-up per hit on this attack speed locks bosses down almost instantly. If Stasis survives the balance patch, it is the strongest option; Voltaic remains the reliable pick either way, and the weapon is genuinely good even with no infusion at all.

Special ability

The Strike Stone works well, but the unique Hexapod Core is the interesting one: extremely fast multi-attacks that need to be leveled until its stagger immunity unlocks before it is worth the risk. At full investment it shreds.

Verdict

The complete package — speed, AoE, status pressure, and an easy open-world pickup. Once it is in your hands, it is very hard to put down.
